To ensure you get the most out of your visit—and that you and your stylist are both on the same page and feeling good about the plan at the end of it—Lead Stylist Zack is sharing a few tips to help you get ready.

  1. Bring photos of what you like (and don’t like)
Photos are the best way to make sure we’re both on the same page! It doesn’t have to be super specific—you can bring a collection of different things that you like and/or don’t like. Pinterest boards are great for this. Even photos of your past self. I’ve even given somebody a bob based off of their Memoji’s haircut! We will also take a photo of your hair at the consultation, as long as that’s okay with you! This is just to keep track of your hair journey with us. 🌈

  2. Come with an idea of what you’re looking for
It’s okay if you are torn between a few different directions or aren’t totally sure what you’re looking to get done. But it’s helpful for both of us if you come with at least an idea of what kind of vibe you’re going for! We can help you expand on ideas from there.

  3. Show up on time
This one is pretty straightforward! Consultations are booked for only 15 minutes, so let’s make the most of that time! Showing up early ensures we can get the most out of our conversation.

  4. Know your hair history, especially for color or perms
If you’re looking to do a big color change or get a perm, it’s important that we know all of the past color and/or bleaching that has taken place. You won’t be judged for doing at-home color, I promise! Knowing color history will just help the stylist make sure we can achieve your desired look.

  5. Share what you’re thinking!
Consultations are about making sure we’re all on the same page! Don’t be afraid to let us know if you aren’t liking something about your hair or the direction things are going. We will probably be asking you a lot of questions about your hair, but you’re totally welcome to ask us questions as well!

Ready to book yours? Hair Design Consultations can only be scheduled over the phone, so call/text 971.267.4080 for our Portland locations and 971.474.9531 for Ginger & Maude in Tigard. We’ll see you in the salon!
