At Ginger & Maude® Hair Salons, we take the environment—and caring for it—seriously. Here are a few of the ways we’re doing what we can to make a difference.

Recycling Beauty Waste
We’ve been a Certified Sustainable salon brand with Green Circle Salons since 2018. For the unfamiliar, Green Circle Salons provides a pathway to sustainability for the beauty industry in North America by taking beauty waste and turning it into a number of helpful materials and products, such as:

  • Hair booms for oil spill cleanup
  • Bio-composite plastic for items like recycling bins
  • Recycled metal for items like bicycles
  • Clean energy
  • Clean water

Through this partnership, we’re able to recycle and recover the majority of our beauty waste (used foils, color tubes, hair clippings, and excess hair color) and hard-to-recycle plastics (bottle caps, lids, and product containers) that are not recyclable through traditional recycling programs.

Using Environmentally Friendly Products
We exclusively sell KEVIN.MURPHY hair products in the salon, because in addition to smelling great and working wonders on hair, they use quality, beneficial ingredients and conscientious packaging, and are responsible in how they use natural resources and source raw materials.

Additionally, all the color lines we carry—KEVIN.MURPHY, Goldwell, and Danger Jones—are committed to offering products that use fewer harsh chemicals and prioritize sustainability. Goldwell is committed to reducing their carbon footprint and climate neutrality, with many Goldwell products certified by ClimatePartner for their climate action, and Danger Jones uses sustainable and ethically sourced raw materials as well as post-consumer recycled packaging.

Being B Corp and shopping B Corp
In 2015, Ginger & Maude Hair Salons became North America’s first Certified B Corporation hair salon, cementing our commitment to creating a positive impact on the triple bottom line: profit, people, and planet. (The Ginger & Maude Hair Salon in Tigard is a pending B Corporation.)

When it comes to the supplies and systems within the salon, we strive to make them more earth-friendly as often as we can. That means shopping local and amongst our fellow B Corp businesses whenever possible. Our coffee, for example, is from a local roaster, our tea is from a local B Corp, and the cups we serve them in are biodegradable.

We’re proud to be a sustainable hair salon and we’re grateful to you for supporting our endeavor every time you walk through our doors.
