Because we are all about being fierce change-makers at Ginger, we are donating $1,000 a month to charities we aggressively appreciate for the work they do to uplift, light up, and elevate this collective human experience. This month, Ginger Salon is extremely happy to support the Sexual/Gender Minority Youth Resource Center.
Living your most authentic self is not always easy, especially for younger people who may be experiencing homelessness. SMYRC provides a safe and supervised harassment-free space for sexual and gender minority youth ages 13-23. SMYRC's services include counseling, case management, and mental health support. They also organize positive activities like art, music, community organizing, open mic nights, drag shows, and support groups. With the goal of increasing academic success and access to jobs, SMYRC hopes to reduce poverty and school drop-out rates. SMYRC honors, empowers, and supports LGBTQ youth to be their best selves and become leaders in their communities.
