Here’s the thing: Our hair holds on to a LOT, even in the process of us taking care of it and ourselves.

Buildup from hard water minerals, oxidized metals, salts, styling products, and even some medications can lead to flaking, itching, irritated scalps, and hair problems such as discoloration, dullness, dryness, loss of definition, or even hair that still feels greasy after shampooing.

Luckily, there is a brand out there dedicated to gently removing this buildup and discoloration, leaving our hair and scalp radiant, refreshed, and hydrated. To quote them directly, “If you use water, you need Malibu C.” Vegan, cruelty-free, plant-based, and eco-friendly, Malibu C is the treatment line our hair has been asking for. Stina is telling us more.

What is a Malibu C Treatment?
It's a specialized treatment that helps target and eliminate excess minerals in your hair that could be weighing it down, altering your color, or affecting your texture.

Why do we want it?
It's a fast and effective way to deal with the external assault that comes from our day-to-day lives. If you are a swimmer or have well water, you are especially prone to having water-based complications in your hair, and this treatment helps remove them. It's also a great way to reset and balance the hair and scalp before receiving a service.

How is it applied?
There are a handful of treatments within the line, and they all have an option to do it slightly differently. All the treatments start the same; you'll be shampooed, and then it's applied and covered. You might sit and relax in the shampoo bowl, or you'll be taken over and put under a heater, depending on the end goal.

Who do you recommend it for?
It's great for anyone with well water or who lives near a water treatment plant (if your water smells like chlorine when it runs or it leaves rings around the toilet bowl, you have hard water), swimmers, or sun-seekers. But! I think anyone with hair would feel a benefit from the correct Malibu C Treatment being used on them.

Who should hold off?
People with white or non-pigmented hair should not use it. It can cause an adverse effect with the chemical interactions since white hair is typically more porous, leaving the cuticle wide open, causing the hair to pick up even more external damage.

Anything else we should know?
I especially love the Swimmers Wellness® Remedy for the little people in your life who have that shiny glow to their hair that is beautiful but also makes it so you can't brush it. (If you know, you know.) It'll help get all that buildup off so the hair is more manageable.

Also. If a blonde is going to golden in between appointments, I love to do a Malibu Blondes® Wellness Remedy before their toner to make sure we have a clean canvas and support the tone to last longer.
