And with our newest Front Desk Assistant, Cassandra, we have efficiency and authentic human connection all in one! Seriously. She’s amazing. (She also has a literal TON of hair experience!) Let’s learn more about her.

Q: Tell us about yourself!
A: I’m new to Portland but not new to the hair industry. I love the seasons here and the flowers. I enjoy hiking, camping, and running, and I’m an animal lover.

Q: What sparked your interest in working for Ginger & Maude?
A: I actually researched quite a few salons in the area before applying. I really wanted to work for a company that aligned with my beliefs and had the culture I was looking for. We don’t just love hair, we love people—I mean, that’s me.

Q: You have a lot of previous experience in the hair industry. Can you tell us more about it?
A: Sure! I started working in salons in 2003 and have basically worked every position you can, from being at the desk, to doing hair behind the chair, to managing and training. When COVID hit, I decided to take a break. I moved to Oregon for a fresh start and fresh eyes on the industry. I am still licensed as a hair stylist in Florida but don’t have my license in Oregon yet. I’ve been happy at the desk at Ginger and Maude and really love the team!

Q: How does this previous experience enhance your ability to assist clients reaching out to the salon?
A: When people call, sometimes they have no idea what service they really need. Understanding the salon industry and hairstyling itself helps me ask the right questions to get the correct service booked and match your personality/style/hair needs with the correct stylist.

Q: What do you think is the most underrated yet important part of customer service?
A: Being able to recognize patterns and adjust your service based on them. Basically, when you can answer someone’s question before they ask it.

Q: What Front Desk service options does Ginger & Maude offer that people sometimes don’t know about, but clients tell you they love?
A: People love that they can text and it comes directly to a person. You aren’t chatting with a bot. It’s a real person on the other side.

Q: Fill in the blank: "It would make clients' lives easier to know the front desk can help them ______________."
A: Book at all the Portland locations! For the four City of Portland salons, I think clients think they have to call each one individually, but we can book all locations with one call. (The Ginger & Maude in Tigard does have a separate number.)

Q: What has been your favorite or most meaningful client interaction yet?
A: That’s such a hard question! I mean, life is busy. We are all running from one moment to another. When I can make a client’s (or a stylist’s or a manager’s) life just a little bit easier, it makes me happy. Sometimes, it’s the little things that matter the most.
