Did you hear?? Rose Haven’s new location opens today! Stop by from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm for tours and small goodies.
If you are unfamiliar with the organization, Rose Haven is a 501C(3) nonprofit day shelter and community center focused on serving women, children, and gender non-conforming folx experiencing abuse and loss of home. They have been hard at work preparing a new, bigger location that will facilitate them offering even more services to better support those experiencing house- and homelessness and poverty, further working toward their vision of a community where everyone has safety, stability, love, health, and home.
Ginger Salon was more than excited to donate to their Wellness Center and shower program, sending face, hand, and body towels, shower mats, shampoo and conditioner, and lots of styling products and styling tools (hairdryers, curling irons, and flat irons) so that guests can get ready.
Donations from the public are paused until mid-March as they get settled into their new digs, but anyone who’d like to help out is encouraged to make purchases from their Amazon Wishlist and monetary donations are always so, so appreciated.
Interested in volunteering? After two years of operating outdoors due to the pandemic, their new facility allows them to officially bring services back inside, meaning increased volunteer opportunities (and an increased need for it too!). Their indoor service model offers direct service opportunities from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, and organizational support from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Learn more about how you can help here.
ALSO, today is International Women’s Day–whoop whoop! If you’re in the mood to celebrate, 10 Barrel Brewing PDX is hosting an event from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm where they will be featuring a specially brewed Rose Haven Export Stout to honor the occasion. All proceeds from the night will be donated to Rose Haven.
