Ginger & Maude Hair Salons has long been a more earth-friendly hair salon. After all, we consider the Earth to be a major stakeholder in our business, and as North America's first B Corp™ certified hair salon brand, we believe that businesses have both a responsibility and an opportunity to address the climate crisis. We have done this through a number of actions, including:
-Becoming certified sustainable through our partnership with Green Circle Salons, which allows us to recycle and recover the majority of our beauty waste, including used foils, color tubes, excess hair color, hair clippings, and hard-to-recycle plastics.
-Selecting an environmentally conscious hair product line—KEVIN.MURPHY—for use in the salons, as well as environmentally conscious hair salon supplies where possible.
-Implementing eco-conscious changes within the salons (for example: using smart thermostats, reusable towels and bidets in the restrooms, and salon spray nozzles that reduce water and energy consumption by up to 65%).
But to us, being a sustainable hair salon also means continually finding ways to improve. We’re not perfect, and we are always looking to do better. This year, we created a Climate Action Plan to identify areas for improvement and outline our goals for those areas. As part of this, we’ve just completed an audit of our current recycling processes to ensure we are properly recycling as much as we can through our local recycling program and our partnership with Green Circle Salons. Following our Climate Action Plan, we can ensure we are continuing to make progress and do our part to take care of our planet.
