It’s holiday party time!! Exciting. Let’s make sure you have everything you need.

Party outfit? Check.
Holiday cheer? Check.
Knock-’em-dead hairstyle? … Whoops.

Hey, we get it. Maybe you’re running late, maybe your initial plan went horribly wrong, maybe you forgot you even had hair and so neglected to plan what to do with it AT ALL. It happens. We’re fine.
But now it’s time to FOCUS UP. The party is starting very soon and we are here to make sure you show up looking just as sparklingly glam as those meticulously placed holiday lights, only UNLIKE those lights—which, let’s face it, can be a real pain in the ass to get so perfect—this hairstyle by Dakota will take way, WAY less time and effort. (Thanks, Dakota.)

Here’s what you need:

  • A solid, yet flexible hairspray (We love SESSION.SPRAY FLEX by KEVIN.MURPHY)
  • A curling apparatus (curling iron, flat iron, curlers (if that’s your vibe))
  • Bobby pins

Got them? Great. Let’s get started.

  1. Part your hair in the desired location.
  2. Use your SESSION.SPRAY FLEX to give your hair a good starting spritz.
  3. Curl all your hair and spritz again to hold.
  4. Gently run your fingers through the curls to loosen them up a bit.
  5. On one side of your part, gather a chunk of hair and split it into two even sections.
  6. Twist these around each other twice, so the twist goes in the direction of your part (begin by crossing the section closest to your face over the section closest to your part).
  7. Take a small lock of hair from the area near your part, just beneath the original chunk you gathered, and add it to the section of hair now closest to your part (think like a French braid). Twist the two sections around each other twice more. Repeat this step until you’ve added three sections of hair total.
  8. Continue twisting until you run out of hair, then hold the end to keep the twist in place and gently pull along it to loosen it up a bit.
  9. Secure the twist at the back of your head using a bobby pin.
  10. Repeat steps 5-9 on the other side of your part to create a second twist.
  11. Give the whole thing one more good spritz.

Ta-da! You did it, and you look even BETTER than those holiday lights. Go have a great time!
