Q: What is a Keratin Treatment? What does the Ginger & Maude Keratin Treatment involve?
A: A Keratin Treatment is a smoothing treatment that works by adding keratin back into the hair, which bonds with your natural keratin. This strengthens the hair strand and helps to seal down the cuticle layer, resulting in smoother, more manageable hair for up to five months. The system we use, Kerasilk, is also formaldehyde-free and vegan.
The appointment typically lasts around 2-3 hours, though this can vary depending on your individual hair, and consists of cleansing the hair, applying the treatment, blow-drying and flat ironing to lock it in, and then a final shampoo and finishing blow-dry.
Q: How does it save you time?
A: Keratin Treatments save time by smoothing the hair, reducing flyaways, decreasing drying times, and reducing or eliminating the need for flat ironing. They also offer humidity protection!
Q: Who would be a good candidate?
A: Anyone can get a Keratin Treatment, but folks with thick, curly, coarse, flyaway-prone, or chemically treated hair will likely see the best results.
Q: Who should hold off?
A: Those with fine or naturally straight hair will, in most cases, not need a Keratin or will see very mild results. Folks with extensively bleached hair will typically want to stay away from Keratin Treatments, as they can lead to breakage, and in some cases, discoloration.
