Ginger & Maude Hair Salon was designed as an affordable, boutique concept — each hair salon is just 2–3 chairs, which keeps build-out and real estate costs intentionally lean compared to larger salon formats. Total investment still varies by market and build-out specifics; reach out and we'll walk you through the current investment range and financial qualifications during your introductory call.

What ongoing fees should I expect?

Accepted Answer

Franchise systems, including Ginger & Maude, charge ongoing royalty fees as a percentage of gross sales, in order to provide ongoing support. We post these royalty fees on this website and outline all costs in our Franchise Disclosure Document.

How do I become a franchise salon owner?

Start by submitting an inquiry through our 'Get In Touch' webpage. From there, we'll email you to answer your questions and schedule an introductory conversation. Then, if there's the potential for a mutual fit, we will guide you through the discovery process to determine if this is the best opportunity for you.

What does the discovery and approval process look like?

Our process typically includes an introductory call, simple application, a deep-dive into the business opportunity, insights from existing franchise salon owner(s), and a Discovery Day with our Brand Leadership Team before formal approval. Most candidates move through it in 30–60 days.

How long does it take to open a hair salon after I'm approved?

From signed franchise agreement to grand opening, most hair salon locations open within 9–12 months, depending on real estate timelines, permitting, and build-out in your market.

What training and onboarding will I receive?

All new hair salon owners complete our comprehensive onboarding program covering brand standards and operations needed to create the Ginger & Maude Hair Salon guest experience. Your Head Stylist also receives training so the client experience feels consistent from day one.

You're never alone. Our franchisees receive ongoing business coaching, marketing support, training resources, and direct access to our leadership team.

Is marketing handled at the brand level or locally?

It's both. Our brand team handles brand marketing strategy, national positioning, marketing tools and templates, and social and digital presence infrastructure. Local marketing — community events and grassroots outreach — is led by the franchise hair salon owners, with our guidance.

Our four original hair salons are in Portland, Oregon, and the first franchise hair salon location is in Tigard, Oregon, but there are still territories available in the Portland metro area. What does it mean that Ginger & Maude is a B Corp?

Accepted Answer

B Corp Certification means we meet rigorous, third-party standards for social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency — and Ginger & Maude is North America's first B Corp™ hair salon! We're also a Certified Sustainable hair salon with our sustainability vendor, Green Circle Salons. As a franchise salon owner, you will follow these standards, become a Pending B Corp, and then become a fully certified B Corp after your salon has had at least 12 months of operations to demonstrate them.
