Guess what?! Our Fabulous.Hair.Shit Moisture Mask is back in the salon and available for retail purchase. If you’ve ever had a Deep Treatment service in the salon, it’s likely you’ve already been acquainted with this little miracle cream and experienced its wonder.

If you haven’t, two things:

  1. Schedule one ASAP. Like, click here right now. You won’t be disappointed. (And—what luck!—you can purchase a container to take home with you after your appointment!)
  2. It’s seriously time the two of you met.

The Moisture Mask is a once-weekly treatment you can do at home to return softness and moisture to your hair and/or help remedy scalp issues like flakes, dryness, and buildup. We love it for how it restores shine, but also because it comes in an easy-open container, is so simple to work with, and contains just five ingredients:

-Coconut oil
-Shea butter
-Jojoba oil
-Lime oil
-Honeysuckle blend

It’s great for all hair types, but we especially recommend it for:
-Dry hair
-Thicker strands
-Stronger textures
-Blondes (It’s colorless, so it won’t stain!)
-Hair that easily tangles
-Swimmers (Put it in your dry hair before swimming and it helps to create a barrier from the chlorine IN ADDITION TO its typical deep-treatment duties. A true hero.)

We do NOT recommend it for:
-Extensions (Because the post-treatment cleanse shampoo is not their friend.)

So let’s talk about how to apply the treatment, shall we? No thanks needed, but this is the perfect activity for those days when you’re like, “I really wanna watch my favorite show, but I feel bad if I’m not being productive.”

Here’s what you’re gonna do to apply it:

  1. Scoop a little product out of the tub. Marvel at its scoopability. (You really don’t need a lot here—a little goes a long way!)
  2. Gently rub it between your hands to liquify it.
  3. Begin applying it to sections of your hair. Tip here: How far up you apply the mask is going to be dependent on your individual hair and scalp needs. Taylor, the model in the video, has fine to medium hair that is overall pretty healthy with just a bit of damage on the ends. To avoid weighing her hair down, we’re only applying it to the mid-lengths and ends. For folks with thicker strands, stronger textures, or more damage, applying it higher up might make more sense, and folks with scalp issues will want to bring it all the way to the scalp.
  4. Ensure hair is fully coated by milking each section, or repeatedly pulling the hair through your hands to distribute the product.
  5. Once you’ve applied the product to all your hair, kick back for 20-30 minutes while it does its thing.

Time’s up! Here’s how to wash it out:

  1. Thoroughly wet hair with warm water.
  2. Use a chelating—aka a deep cleansing—shampoo (KEVIN.MURPHY’s MAXI.WASH is lovely), to fully wash out the product. It should rinse out fairly easily, but if you feel like it’s loving sticking around, just repeat this step and wash again. No big.
  3. Apply a lightweight conditioner (KEVIN.MURPHY’s ANGEL.RINSE is used for Taylor). Rinse out with tepid water. Here’s a tip for conditioning: Apply conditioner to your ponytail and down first, and then simply run your fingers through the hair closer to your scalp. By not massaging a ton of conditioner closer to the root, you keep the hair from collapsing, which will help give your hair a volume boost. You’re welcome.
  4. Towel dry hair and style as you like. Revel in the health and shine.

You see what we mean?! It’s seriously such a simple process for such amazing, hydrated results, and we are so excited you can now take the magic home with you. But hey, if you’d rather just hang out and watch your show, no judgement here. Our Fabulous.Hair.Shit Moisture Mask is also great as a li’l self-care-boosting Deep Treatment add-on during your next Haircut or Blow-dry service.

P.S. As a special bonus, it works wonders for those who have issues with dry skin on their hands! (Some of our stylists can attest to this. 😬)
